What Is Art?
I recently read one of Tolstoy's books which is called What Is Art?
There were many interesting things mentioned there that I agreed with and many other things that I didn't agree with. I strongly recommend anyone to read it.
By chance, I asked an AI (Artificial Intelligence) this question to see what our overlord thought about the same subjects, and here is the result:

I've always been interested in art, but what is it exactly? When you see a painting or a sculpture by a famous artist, do you know what it is? For most people, the answer is no. That's because there are many forms of art out there: painting, photography, sculpture and more. Some forms of art have been around for thousands of years while others are new today—but all have something special about them that makes them worth exploring further. In this article we'll explore some common misconceptions about what constitutes "art" in our society today along with some examples from paganism and other religions to show how different cultures valued different things over time
I know it when I see it

That's my definition of art, and it's what makes me love photography so much. When you look at a good photo, you can say: "I like that." You might not always be able to explain why exactly you like it, but there are some things that make photos stand out from all the rest.
There are also many different kinds of art forms (painting, dance music), but one thing they have in common is that they evoke an emotional response from their audience (or participants).
Beautiful to one person and maybe ugly to another
Beautiful to one person and maybe ugly to another
There are many ways to define beauty. Some people may think a painting or sculpture is beautiful, while others might find it ugly. The same goes for music: some people like classical music and others prefer pop songs. Beauty is subjective; it's not something that can be judged by one person or another.
A definition of art as "the creation of beauty" doesn't work because beauty isn't always what we consider beautiful—it depends on the artist's point of view! Artists aren’t necessarily trying to make their art beautiful; they're just trying to express themselves through their medium (or mediums). Sometimes they'll create something so spectacularly ugly that even our most sophisticated critics can't help but notice how unappealing the object really is!
You may disagree with my opinion about whether an object should be considered art or not based on its appearance alone, but at least now you know where I stand in this debate: if anything looks like garbage then it probably isn't worth considering as part of any sort of collection or display case at all."
As a society, We've become conditioned to believe that there are certain things that are "beautiful".

As a society, we've become conditioned to believe that there are certain things that are "beautiful". For example, if you look at a picture of a sunset and think it's beautiful, most likely someone else will disagree with you because they see something else in the image. The same is true when it comes to art: some people find it ugly while others find it beautiful.
Art can be considered an expression of emotion by one individual (or group) towards another; however, this does not make art any less subjective or personal than beauty itself! Art does not just involve visual stimulation - there are many other aspects such as entertainment value and therapy for those who need emotional support during difficult times in life.

Art is a way to express yourself. It can be entertainment, therapy for others and also an outlet for your creativity. Art can also show what you think is beautiful or ugly or important; this makes art very interesting! You might like some kinds of music better than others--and maybe even some paintings or sculptures--but it's still possible that someone else will disagree with your opinion about these things being good (or bad) art pieces!
This kind of art is very different than what we think of as art today.

Art is a lot more than just pretty pictures. It's also an expression of your feelings, thoughts and beliefs. Art can be anything that helps you express yourself in some way, whether it's through writing or music or painting or sculpture—and this kind of art has been around since the beginning of time (and even before).
Art is not only visual; it also involves sound and smell, taste and touch. Art touches us on many levels: emotionally, intellectually, spiritually...you name it! The best part about art is that there are no rules about what makes good art; you don't have to follow any rules at all when making your own piece(s). And because we're all unique individuals with unique tastes and preferences when it comes to art (and everything else), we each get our own personal experience out of seeing something wonderful at an exhibition or museum showroom like yours here today at [your favorite museum name].

Art is a reflection of the time, culture, and person who created it. As society changes and grows, so will art. For example:
- In ancient Greece, artists painted on walls using pigments that were made from crushed minerals or ashes. The paintings would be destroyed almost immediately after they were painted because people did not want them to last longer than their lives (or at least not very long). So if you saw an artwork from this period today—an original painting by an unknown artist—you would think nothing about it because there was no way for your eyes to tell if it was real or fake; all you could do was look at its color scheme and try to guess what kind of materials were used in creating its original form.

Art is a way to express yourself, and is also entertainment and therapy for other people. It's an important part of life—no matter how old you are or what your interests are.
When someone sees art, they may feel inspired by it or even get ideas about their own work from what they see in the piece. If a person likes art then he/she will want more of it!
Conclusion
Conclusion
Art is something that everyone can enjoy, but it's also a form of expression for those who feel like they don't fit in with society's norms. Art makes us think about the world and how things work, and it helps us find connections with one another in ways we might not otherwise. We will continue to explore this idea of art as an expression both for ourselves and others throughout our lives--so much more than just pretty pictures!
